Christmas is a special festival to me as a Christian, but it also has its secular traditions. I very much enjoy joining in the Father Christmas narrative, rocking around the Christmas tree and giving gifts to my nearest and dearest. While there are many aspects even of these traditions that can help me reflect upon the religious significance of this holiday, I am also able to share these festivities with my non-Christian friends. And of course, there are many other religious festivals around this time of year. One of my fondest memories is ending Christmas Eve down the pub. Everyone started going round to one another, asking what their faith was so that we could wish one another the appropriate season's greeting. It was a special time of learning about one another and respecting our diversity. One of the things I love about making bespoke ornaments is that I can adjust the designs to fit the individual. Some people enjoy a theme or motif that resonates with them, others don't celebrate Christmas but still enjoy a pretty ornament made relevant to their own faith and festivities. One of my favourite alternative designs is this Spooky Gingerbread Ornament that I made for a friend who likes witchy and spooky things. It also works for those who like gothic themes or love Halloween; and I know quite a few people like that. This gingerbread woman is dressed in black and the cobwebs glow in the dark! Whether you're looking for a Christmas or alternative ornament, for yourself or as a gift, get in touch with me now to order yours!

Peppermint is another one of my essentials and I love the fragrance and flavour so much. There are a variety of benefits and methods for using peppermint. This is the first essential oil that brought me to dōTERRA, after a friend had recommended using it internally to manage allergies. You will find that most brands of essential oils are for topical use only, that is because they are not as pure as dōTERRA. During a particularly bad allergy season, I was shut in my house and feeling lousy. I had all the windows shut, an air purifier on all day, taking maximum strength prescription antihistamines and still having to use my allergy inhaler the maximum 4 times a day. I was exhausted, struggling to breathe and running out of ideas. That is when a friend suggested I try ingesting peppermint essential oil. On 17th September 2022, I took Fairy Cove Curiosities to my first market! I came to High Wycombe 13 years ago for university and made this town my home. The market is out on the high street three times a week and with many fond memories of wandering around with friends and buying various trinkets, I was thrilled that it should be the first market I ever trade at. We had beautiful weather, which made for the perfect market experience. I very much enjoyed the atmosphere, the music and the food! I next plan to be at High Wycombe Market on Saturday 8th October - meanwhile, you can find the various gifts, trinkets and jewellery that I make here at my online shop. Feel free to drop me a message if you have any enquiries or custom requests. If you're in the High Wycombe area, I hope you'll come visit me in person at the market!
12th May is Fibromyalgia Awareness Day!
For those of you who may not already know, Fibromyalgia is the name of the debilitating, chronic pain condition that I live with. Living with this illness also means that I am part of a vibrant, supportive community of Fibro Warriors - some of the most beautiful, kind and caring souls I have ever met, who are also living with this condition. Many of us are highly motivated, high-achievers and despite the challenges of Fibromyalgia, we continue to take an active role in our communities in whatever capacity we may be able to. Ultimately, this is what Fibromyalgia Awareness is all about; asking you to take some time to learn a little more about our condition so that we might be met with more understanding in our communities. Living with disability can mean that we sometimes need a little more help to manage tasks that the able-bodied can manage alone, but we are far from a drag on your time and resources. When disabled people are supported and enabled to be active members of our communities, our talents and efforts will also enrich and bless the lives of others. Purify is a dōTERRA blend, comprised of Lemon, Lime, Siberian Fir, Citronella, Tea Tree and Coriander essential oils. This blend has many uses both mental and physical, but for me, it’s ability to support my physical health is most astounding. Purify, much like the name suggests, is an oil of purification; it can help to deodorise the air and to support with seasonal allergies. A few years ago, my seasonal allergies were completely out of control. I spent weeks confined to my house, unable to open a window and with the air purifier going 24/7 just to keep me breathing. All of this was on top of taking the maximum prescription medication and an inhaler four times a day. It was quite scary, even with all these things in place, I still felt like I was fighting for air. |
